The Nigeria Police Force has admitted that ₦100 million intended for Anambra State’s security vote was mistakenly transferred to Victor Egbetokun, son of the outgoing Inspector‑General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

In a statement, the police described the transfer as a clerical error and assured the public that steps are being taken to recover the funds immediately. Officials emphasized that there was no wrongdoing on the part of Egbetokun or his family.

The announcement comes amid speculation and online reports suggesting that the money was deliberately sent to the IGP’s son, prompting confusion and calls for clarity from concerned citizens.

Authorities have reiterated that internal investigations are ongoing to prevent similar errors in the future, stressing that the incident was an administrative mistake and not part of any illicit scheme.
