Ademola Adeleke,Osun State Governor, has firmly pushed back against a demand from the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, step down amid a payroll audit dispute.

In a statement responding to the APC’s call, the governor dismissed the opposition’s position, saying it was driven by political frustration rather than genuine concern for governance.

The APC had urged Akinleye’s resignation, linking him to controversy over the handling of a staff audit and a reported phone altercation with a consultant involved in the review. Opponents described the situation as damaging to public confidence and said the chief of staff’s conduct was unbecoming of his office.

But the governor’s spokesperson defended Akinleye, praising his work and rejecting the allegations as attempts to undermine the state government’s achievements. According to the spokesperson, the chief of staff’s leadership has helped protect Osun’s resources and maintain stability within the administration.

Adeleke’s response signals that his government intends to stand by its senior aides and frame the criticism as politically motivated rather than based on substantiated misconduct.
