The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has cautioned its members and supporters to ignore circulating lists claiming to show newly elected ward and local government executives, describing them as fake and misleading.
According to the party, these documents, which carry names purportedly of officials elected at the ward and local government levels, were circulated by “mischievous elements” seeking to undermine the interests of genuine party members and stakeholders.
APC members across Oyo participated in nationwide Ward and Local Government congresses held on February 18 and 21, respectively, where new officials were elected to oversee party affairs at the grassroots for the next four years.
In a statement released over the weekend by the State Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party confirmed that the congresses were successfully conducted across all 351 wards and 33 local government areas of the state.
“We have received reports of fake documents circulating on social media claiming to list newly elected executive members,” the statement read. “For the avoidance of doubt, we affirm the outcomes of the congresses conducted across all wards and LGAs. The consensus arrangement prescribed by the national leadership was employed, producing the desired results.”
The party assured members that there is no cause for concern regarding the elected ward and local government executives, noting that their inauguration will follow the emergence of a new State Executive Committee.
The State Congress of Oyo APC is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium. Members and supporters have been urged to attend, with the party confirming that all necessary arrangements have been made for a smooth exercise.
“A new state executive committee will emerge through consensus, with each of the 33 LGAs sending their chosen representatives,” the statement added.
The APC leadership expressed confidence that the party remains united and resilient, despite attempts to create confusion through unauthorised documents.
“Members and supporters in the Pacesetter State have nothing to worry about. The party continues to grow stronger, leaving no room for distractions or sabotage,” the statement concluded.
