Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has handed over electric vehicles to more than 100 beneficiaries in a groundbreaking empowerment initiative across the district.
According to a statement from her media office, the recipients, selected from all five local government areas of Kogi Central, underwent extensive technical and operational training conducted by professional engineers from the Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC).
The initiative, fully funded by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate, maintain, and manage electric vehicles safely.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the senator emphasized the global shift toward clean energy and sustainable transportation, describing electric vehicles as a key part of the future of mobility.
“The world is moving toward cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions. Electric vehicles are more than just cars—they represent a vision to protect our environment, reduce fuel dependency, and create new economic opportunities for our people,” she said.
She further highlighted that the project reflects her broader commitment to innovation, empowerment, and economic development in Kogi Central.
“This program goes beyond handing over vehicles. It is about building sustainable livelihoods, enhancing local capacity, and preparing our youths and entrepreneurs to thrive in a technology-driven future. I am particularly proud that the beneficiaries were fully trained by professionals to ensure safety and competence,” the senator added.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also urged beneficiaries to prioritise discipline and road safety:
“Drive responsibly. Your lives, and those of other road users, are invaluable. Avoid speeding, follow traffic regulations, and ensure regular vehicle maintenance. True empowerment goes hand in hand with responsibility,” she advised.
Encouraging a community-focused mindset, she urged recipients to use the vehicles not just for personal gain but also to support their families and uplift their communities.
“Let this opportunity inspire you to help others. May your success stories resonate across all five local government areas,” she said.
The senator concluded with prayers for the beneficiaries and the people of Kogi Central, asking for protection, prosperity, and sustained development for the district.
Observers described the initiative as a forward-thinking blend of environmental sustainability and economic empowerment. The distribution of electric vehicles marks a key milestone in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituency development agenda, reinforcing her commitment to innovation-driven empowerment and responsible leadership in Kogi Central.
