The Nigerian government has activated urgent communication channels to support its citizens living in or travelling through parts of the Middle East amid escalating regional conflict. The initiative was announced by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in response to growing security concerns.

In a notice shared by the commission, NiDCOM urged Nigerians in affected countries to store and use these emergency hotlines immediately if they encounter danger or need assistance. The lines connect callers directly to Nigerian embassies and consulates in the region and are meant to provide timely consular help, guidance on safety, and support during emergencies.

NiDCOM chairperson Abike Dabiri‑Erewa encouraged citizens to keep in touch with their nearest Nigerian mission, follow local safety advisories, and remain alert as the regional situation evolves. She stressed that the hotlines are part of Nigeria’s effort to ensure the welfare of its citizens amid rising geopolitical tensions.

The emergency contacts cover a range of countries in the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Israel, Qatar, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, with some missions also responsible for neighbouring states. Officials have said that Nigerians abroad should maintain regular communication with diplomatic missions and follow official advisories, as the Nigerian government continues to monitor developments and stand ready to offer support as needed.
