Kano, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has unveiled strict measures for this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebrations, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public order.
The announcement follows intelligence reports suggesting that some individuals may attempt to disrupt the festivities. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized that while the state is committed to preserving its rich cultural heritage, public safety will not be compromised.
Under the approved arrangements:
The Hawan Idi procession, led by Muhammad Sanusi II, will follow designated routes from Kofar Mata Eid Ground to the Emir’s Palace.
Hawan Nasarawa will take place in a modified format without horseback displays.
Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been suspended for this year.
Security agencies have been tasked with ensuring compliance and preventing any disruption before, during, and after the Durbar. Residents are urged to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and avoid spreading unverified information to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration.
