Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has criticised the muted response from online supporters of the Dangote Refinery after petrol prices surged to about ₦1,450 per litre in Nigeria.
In social media posts, Adeyanju questioned why influencers who once defended Aliko Dangote’s refinery operations were now quiet following the spike in fuel costs. He noted that many of these voices had previously challenged his views on fuel pricing but have since gone silent amid the latest price increase.
Adeyanju has been outspoken about fuel pricing in recent weeks, arguing that the refinery’s pricing decisions have contributed to higher costs for consumers — even though the facility sources a significant portion of crude locally.
His criticism reflects broader public concerns over rising living costs, particularly as fuel remains a major driver of transportation and goods prices across the country.
