Pretoria, South Africa – The City of Tshwane has unveiled a new fleet of 24 vehicles to boost law enforcement and public safety across the metro ahead of the busy Easter holiday period.

The rollout, conducted by the City’s Metro Police Department (TMPD) at Olievenhoutbosch Park, comes as the city prepares for increased travel, large gatherings, and heightened criminal activity over the holidays.

Executive Mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya said the additional vehicles would enhance police visibility on major routes, improve response times, and reduce accidents and crime in high-risk areas.

“This Easter safety plan is built on visibility, enforcement, and consequence. Today we are not just speaking, we are acting. These 24 vehicles will expand our patrol capacity, ensure quicker response times, and make sure officers are present where they are needed most,” Moya said.

The City described the initiative as part of a broader strategy to ensure safer roads and communities during the holiday season.

Mayor Moya shared updates on social media, emphasizing the importance of safety during this critical time:

“This morning, we joined the Tshwane Metro Police Department for the launch of the City’s Easter Weekend Safety Campaign in Olievenhoutbosch. We want safer roads for our residents during this critical time of the year.”

The new fleet is expected to strengthen policing efforts and provide residents with increased security during the festive period.
