Ibrahim Olayiwola and Kingsley Friday delivered standout performances at the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame (LBHF) tournament held over the weekend at Agege Stadium, Lagos.

Both fighters recorded emphatic knockout victories, underlining their growing reputations at the one-day event, which featured eight competitive bouts alongside two exhibition matches.

Competing in the men’s 60kg category, Olayiwola overwhelmed Ajisola Habeeb with a barrage of punches, forcing the referee to halt the contest to prevent further damage. In similar fashion, Friday dominated Lekan Kolawole in the men’s 75kg division, securing an early stoppage victory.

Reacting to his win, Olayiwola expressed gratitude to his supporters and coaches, attributing his success to rigorous preparation. He also commended the organisers for providing a platform for emerging talents, noting his ambition to turn professional.

The women’s category also produced exciting contests. Nura Sulaimon secured a unanimous 5–0 victory over Mariam Tijani in the 48kg division, while Oyindamiola Agboola defeated Sofiat Yakub 4–1 to claim the 51kg title.

Despite her dominant performance, Sulaimon remained modest, appreciating her coach’s support and describing the tournament as a valuable opportunity for young boxers to showcase their skills.

LBHF Director, David Mohamed, praised the discipline and quality displayed by the athletes, expressing confidence that the monthly series would continue to produce world-class boxers.
