The South African Police Service (SAPS) has organised a leadership camp for children of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, as part of efforts to support and care for their wellbeing.
A total of 57 beneficiaries of the Police Service Education Trust Fund are attending the third edition of the camp, currently taking place in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg.
The three-day programme is designed to guide participants on tertiary education opportunities while also focusing on leadership skills and personal development.
Speaking on the initiative, Major General Nonkululeko Phokane said the camp serves not only to honour fallen officers but also to empower their children with the skills and support needed to navigate their future.
She explained that the structured programme brings the children together in a supportive environment, with dedicated SAPS units providing mentorship and personal development to help build their confidence and resilience.
