Ogun State is preparing to host direct international flights to London as Air Peace announces plans to operate from the recently inaugurated Gateway International Airport this summer.
The airline’s CEO, Allen Onyema, stated that the new route will connect the region directly to London Gatwick and Heathrow, giving travelers in southwestern Nigeria easier access to the UK without the need for stopovers.
The Gateway Airport, described by Onyema as a modern facility capable of handling large jets such as the Boeing 777, is expected to play a key role in boosting international travel and trade for the state.
Governor Dapo Abiodun said the administration is also looking into expanding cargo operations and developing business infrastructure around the airport, aiming to position Ogun as a major commercial and aviation hub in the country.
