The Akwa Ibom State government has announced a major effort to support retirees and enhance infrastructure across the state. Over N82 billion has been released to clear pending gratuities and retirement benefits, providing relief to thousands of former civil servants.
In tandem with these payments, the state has accelerated road development projects under its ARISE Agenda. More than 1,300 kilometres of roads have been completed so far, and an additional 167 km of new roads have been approved to improve connectivity between towns and communities.
Governor Umo Eno emphasized that these projects are part of a broader strategy to improve living standards, which also includes building healthcare centres, schools, and community facilities. He stressed that the government remains committed to timely completion of all projects while addressing the welfare needs of residents.
The administration said this initiative reflects its focus on combining social welfare with infrastructure growth, aiming to create long-term benefits for both urban and rural areas across Akwa Ibom.
