Jersey City, New Jersey, A fire that broke out early Monday morning at Newport Station caused widespread disruption across multiple PATH train lines in New York and New Jersey, leaving commuters stranded during the busy morning rush.
According to officials from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the blaze began around 6:15 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Emergency responders treated several individuals for smoke inhalation at the scene. Authorities have not yet reported any serious injuries.
Train services on affected lines were temporarily suspended, prompting delays and forcing commuters to seek alternative transport options.
