Poland’s rising tennis star, Iga Swiatek, showcased her talent once again as she defeated Kazakhstani player Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open. Swiatek, who recently clinched her first Wimbledon title, displayed a strong performance by winning 10 of the last 13 games, securing a 7-5, 6-3 victory.
The match was a challenging one, with both players giving it their all in the 98-minute showdown. However, Swiatek’s determination and skillful play allowed her to capitalize on Rybakina’s mistakes and ultimately claim the win. She will now face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the final on Tuesday.
In the other semi-final, Paolini emerged victorious in a tough battle against Russian player Veronika Kudermetova, winning 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 to advance to the final showdown with Swiatek.
The Cincinnati Open serves as the final preparation tournament before the prestigious US Open, set to kick off in New York later this month. Tennis fans are eagerly anticipating the exciting final match between Swiatek and Paolini.
