In a tense showdown, Hibernian faced early pressure from Legia Warsaw, with Bushiri narrowly missing a chance as he headed a Jordan Obita corner just over the crossbar.

The momentum shifted in the 53rd minute when Hibs manager Gray executed a triple substitution, bringing on Nicky Cadden, Jamie McGrath, and Miguel Chaiwa for Iredale, Josh Campbell, and Levitt. This change revitalized the squad, forcing Legia’s defense to scramble to maintain their clean sheet.

Legia threatened to break the deadlock in the 61st minute when Bartosz Kapustka unleashed a curling shot from 16 yards, but the goal was disallowed after VAR determined Wszolek was offside in the build-up.

This decision provided a sigh of relief for Hibernian and their supporters, yet the tension mounted as Hibs narrowly avoided conceding again in the 72nd minute. Bichakhchyan found himself in a prime position just yards from goal but shockingly sent the ball over the bar.

The action continued in the Legia penalty area, and in the 83rd minute, substitute Thibault Klidje squandered a clear opportunity, heading wide from just eight yards out.

However, the match took a dramatic turn in the closing moments. After Tobiasz made a splendid save from a diving header by substitute Junior Hoilet, Hibs’ Mulligan found the back of the net, igniting the home crowd. Despite their efforts, Hibernian was unable to find a second goal, yet they remain in contention as the tie progresses.

As the whistle blew, Hibs left the pitch with renewed hope, proving they still have a fighting chance in this gripping encounter.
