Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for intervention in clearing his name from the Federal Government’s wanted list and unfreezing his bank accounts.

During a visit to the monarch at the Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife on Saturday, Igboho pleaded with the Ooni to intercede with President Bola Tinubu on his behalf. He also used the occasion to publicly apologise for previous verbal attacks he had made against the monarch, describing him as a father figure. “I know you’ve forgiven me, judging by the warm reception you’ve given me today,” Igboho said.

He lamented that he remained on the wanted list of the Department of State Services (DSS) since July 2021 over allegations of stockpiling arms, and that his accounts were still frozen. He urged the Ooni to use his influence to get the restrictions lifted, while also reaffirming his commitment to the security of the South-West, expressing readiness to lead efforts to flush out criminals from forests in the region.

In response, Oba Ogunwusi praised Igboho’s courage and his dedication to defending Yorubaland, assuring him of support. The Ooni stated that he had already forgiven Igboho and promised to help ensure his name is removed from the wanted list. The monarch stressed the importance of unity and peaceful advocacy in achieving lasting development in the South-West.
