Medical Concerns Stall Boniface’s Move to AC Milan, Striker Returns to Leverkusen

Victor Boniface, the 24-year-old Nigerian forward, is heading back to Bayer Leverkusen today after medical issues delayed his anticipated transfer to AC Milan. Despite undergoing extensive medical examinations at both La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan over the past two days, the Serie A club has yet to grant approval for the move.

Sources suggest that Milan’s reluctance is tied to Boniface’s past injury record, including two cruciate ligament injuries suffered during his stint at Bodø/Glimt in 2019, as well as recurring muscle problems. These concerns have led the Italian side to proceed with caution.

On Sunday, renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update, confirming that Milan is still not satisfied with the medical findings. “After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move,” Romano said. “After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend.”

The proposed agreement between AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen reportedly involves a €5 million loan fee with a €24 million purchase option. However, Milan’s hesitancy highlights how crucial thorough medical evaluations have become in modern football, where a player’s health can make or break a multi-million-euro transfer.
