Alex Iwobi has joined an exclusive group of Nigerian Premier League stars after recording an assist in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The 29-year-old midfielder set up substitute Emile Smith Rowe for Fulham’s equaliser in the tightly contested encounter.
With this assist, Iwobi now boasts 67 goal contributions in the Premier League — comprising 31 goals and 36 assists. He becomes the third Nigerian player to reach this milestone, following in the footsteps of Shola Ameobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Only two Nigerian players have recorded more Premier League goal contributions than Iwobi: Yakubu Aiyegbeni with 121 and Nwankwo Kanu with 83.
Beyond the assist, Iwobi delivered a standout performance against Manchester United, completing the full 90 minutes and showcasing the versatility and composure that have defined his career since emerging from Arsenal’s academy.
