Niger Delta Youths Protest at NNPCL Headquarters, Demand CEO’s Removal

A large number of Niger Delta youth leaders on Wednesday staged a protest at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Towers in Abuja, arriving as early as 6 a.m.

The demonstrators blocked the main entrance and exit gates of the building, causing major traffic disruptions along Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District.

Carrying banners with bold inscriptions, the protesters demanded the resignation of NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Ojulari, whom they accused of corruption and mismanagement. They further insisted that a Niger Delta indigene be appointed as the company’s next GCEO.

Security operatives, including police officers, were deployed to the scene to maintain order and redirect traffic to a single lane of the dual carriageway leading to the Towers. The blockade also forced many NNPCL workers to park their vehicles far from the premises.
