The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has disowned recent statements issued in its name against the inauguration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai into the party, describing them as “false, mischievous and unauthorized.”
In a statement signed by the State Secretary, Victor Oluwatuyi, and made available to journalists on Saturday, the party dismissed both a publication credited to its Publicity Secretary and a press conference held by a faction of “concerned stakeholders” as attempts to sow disunity.
The first incident involved a statement purportedly issued by the State Publicity Secretary, describing El-Rufai’s formal entry into the ADC as “fraudulent.” The second was a press conference held on August 30 by a group led by Hon. Adamu Dattijo, which accused El-Rufai and other political figures of trying to hijack the party.
Oluwatuyi stressed that neither the State Working Committee (SWC) nor the State Executive Committee (SEC) authorized the statements, insisting that they reflected personal opinions.
“The publication by the Publicity Secretary was purely his personal opinion and not that of the ADC leadership in Kaduna State,” he said. “I personally attended El-Rufai’s inauguration with the State Organizing Secretary, and the State Chairman had also signaled his intention to be present. It is therefore false and malicious to describe the event as fraudulent.”
The secretary further condemned Dattijo’s group for making “reckless and mischievous allegations” against respected party leaders, warning that those behind unauthorized publications and press briefings would face sanctions.
“The ADC Kaduna State Chapter will not tolerate impersonation, indiscipline, or any attempt to undermine the unity of our party. Anyone issuing unauthorized statements or organizing fake press conferences risks disciplinary action in line with our constitution,” Oluwatuyi said.
He appealed to members, coalition partners, and the public to disregard the controversial claims, reaffirming that the authentic leadership of the ADC in Kaduna remained united and focused on building grassroots structures across all 23 local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement also urged the party’s national leadership to take note of the developments and help safeguard the integrity of the Kaduna chapter.
“The ADC belongs to all its members, not to a few individuals with selfish agendas. We remain committed to peace, unity, and the success of our party as we march toward 2027,” Oluwatuyi added.
He warned that those impersonating party officials or misrepresenting its leadership could face both internal sanctions and legal consequences.
