Christopher Musa has alerted Nigerians to a likely increase in attacks by terrorist groups during the holy month of Ramadan. He stated that extremist fighters often escalate operations during sacred periods because they believe that dying while carrying out attacks during these times earns them spiritual rewards.

The minister specifically pointed to threats from Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province, noting that their recent activity suggests a potential surge in assaults on both civilian communities and military positions in the northeast.

According to Christopher Musa, militants tend to target isolated villages and security outposts, sometimes seizing weapons, vehicles, and other equipment before retreating into remote areas. He stressed that such attacks have caused casualties and forced many residents to flee their homes.

The defense minister assured Nigerians that the military has intensified patrols, surveillance, and intelligence operations to prevent further incidents. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with the armed forces, and report any suspicious activity to authorities as part of efforts to protect lives during Ramadan.
