Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has felicitated with children in Abia State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, urging government at all levels to prioritize policies and programmes that will secure a brighter future for the younger generation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mascot Kalu described children as the greatest assets of any nation, noting that the future strength, stability, and prosperity of Nigeria depend largely on how well the country nurtures and protects its children today.
He called on leaders across the country to pay more attention to critical sectors affecting children, including education, healthcare, nutrition, security, and moral upbringing, stressing that millions of Nigerian children still face enormous challenges ranging from poverty and lack of access to quality education to insecurity and child labour.
According to him, Children’s Day should not only be a moment of celebration, but also a period for serious reflection on the responsibilities of government and society towards building an environment where every child can thrive irrespective of background or social status.
The former lawmaker further encouraged parents, teachers, religious institutions, and community leaders to continue instilling discipline, hard work, patriotism, and positive values in children, maintaining that the moral foundation of society begins from the home.
Mascot Kalu also praised the resilience, talents, and dreams of Nigerian children despite prevailing economic difficulties, expressing optimism that with the right leadership and investments, the country can unlock the enormous potential embedded in its youthful population.
He wished all children in Abia State and Nigeria a joyful Children’s Day celebration and reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives and policies that will advance youth and child development across the state.
