The Group Managing Director of Masters Energy Group, Dr. Patience Dappa, has called for greater investment in the blue economy as a sustainable pathway to economic growth and national development. She made the call while speaking at the maiden edition of the Warri Blue Economy Summit, which she attended at the invitation of His Royal Majesty, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

Dr. Dappa delivered a keynote presentation on the theme, “Beyond Oil & Gas,” where she emphasized the urgent need to diversify the economy beyond its traditional dependence on petroleum resources. She noted that the changing global economic landscape demands innovative thinking and strategic investments in emerging sectors capable of driving long-term prosperity.

Highlighting the immense opportunities within the blue economy, the Masters Energy Group boss said our oceans, waterways and coastal ecosystems possess enormous untapped potential in maritime development, fisheries, tourism, logistics, renewable energy and technological innovation. According to her, these sectors hold the key to creating new jobs, expanding economic activities and promoting sustainable national development.

She stressed that the future belongs to businesses that are willing to rethink conventional approaches, embrace innovation and build sustainable solutions that balance economic growth with environmental responsibility. Dr. Dappa maintained that the blue economy offers a unique opportunity to unlock wealth while preserving critical natural resources for future generations.

Speaking on the role of the private sector, she stated that diversification is no longer merely a business strategy but a responsibility that every forward-looking organization must embrace. She encouraged business leaders to continue investing in knowledge, human capital and industries capable of creating enduring value and strengthening economic resilience.

Dr. Dappa expressed satisfaction with the quality of discussions at the summit, describing the event as a valuable platform that brought together policymakers, traditional institutions, investors and industry stakeholders committed to charting a more sustainable economic future. She said the insightful conversations and collaborative spirit demonstrated at the summit inspire confidence in the country’s ability to harness its blue economy potential.

She also expressed appreciation to the organisers of the maiden Warri Blue Economy Summit and His Royal Majesty, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, for the opportunity to contribute to the important national dialogue. Dr. Dappa reaffirmed Masters Energy Group’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation, economic diversification and sustainable development.
