The President General of the Igbo World Union, His Imperial Majesty Amb. Mishak Nnanta, KJW, Gburugburu Ndi Dum, alongside Engineer. Peter Chukwuma Uyaelumuo, Secretary General (IWU). Chief Kingsley Kalu Okeh, FCT Chairman and other members of his executive council, has paid a solidarity visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Facility.
His Imperial Majesty Amb. Mishak Nnanta was warmly received on arrival in Sokoto by High Chief Vincent Ogborogu, popularly known as Nnanyerugo, the President General of Ndigbo in Sokoto, alongside members of his executive council, who hosted and accompanied the delegation throughout the visit.
The visit, which attracted attention across the South East and among members of the Igbo diaspora community, was described as part of ongoing consultations and engagement by Igbo leaders concerning the continued detention of the IPOB leader.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, His Imperial Majesty Amb. Mishak Nnanta said the delegation held fruitful discussions with Nnamdi Kanu and also used the opportunity to assess his condition and state of mind.
According to him, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains strong and hopeful despite his prolonged detention, while continuing to express deep concern about the unity, peace, and future of the Igbo people.
The Igbo World Union President General further disclosed that he came out of the meeting with a message from Nnamdi Kanu to Ndi Igbo. According to him, Kanu urged Ndigbo to remain united, law abiding, peaceful, and focused on the collective progress and protection of Igbo interests across Nigeria and beyond.
He also emphasized the importance of avoiding actions capable of creating further tension in the South East, while encouraging continuous pursuit of justice, dialogue, and lawful engagement.
Following the visitation to the Sokoto Correctional Facility, His Imperial Majesty Amb. Mishak Nnanta was accompanied by High Chief Vincent Ogborogu and members of the Sokoto Ndigbo leadership to the Palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, where consultations and deliberations were held regarding possible support and intervention from the Palace towards efforts aimed at securing the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking further, Amb. Mishak Nnanta noted that the time has come for Ndi Igbo to embrace unity above division, stressing that no society can progress in an atmosphere of hatred and internal conflict. He urged political leaders, youths, traditional rulers, and stakeholders across Alaigbo to work together in protecting the dignity and future of the Igbo nation.
He further stated that the visit was not political but humanitarian and brotherly, adding that the Igbo World Union remains committed to promoting peace, justice, cultural identity, and the welfare of Ndigbo both at home and in the diaspora.
