Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has pledged his future to the club after signing a new long-term contract at Anfield.
The Netherlands international, who joined from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, has scored 42 goals in 131 appearances and lifted both the Carabao Cup and Premier League title during his two-and-a-half years on Merseyside.
Speaking after penning fresh terms, the 26-year-old said the decision to extend his stay was an easy one, describing Liverpool as “home” for both him and his family.
“It feels amazing to extend the contract here at this beautiful club,” Gakpo said. “I’m very grateful and hopefully I can give back many more beautiful moments.”
Reflecting on his development since joining, Gakpo credited his growth to playing across different attacking roles and learning under two top managers — Jürgen Klopp and current boss Arne Slot.
“Jürgen gave me the opportunity to come here and trusted me from the start. It was difficult at the beginning, but we built a strong team. Of course, it was sad when he left, but Arne came in and did a great job last season. Both had a big influence on me,” he said.
Now an established figure at Anfield, Gakpo insists he remains hungry for more success. “We had a very good season last year, but it only makes me want to keep developing and win as much as possible in the years to come,” he added.
