The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced the results of the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, across the state’s 23 local government areas.
According to the RSIEC Chairman, Dr. Michael Ekpai Odey, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a landslide victory, winning 20 LGAs, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to clinch only three.
In a major upset, Governor Siminalayi Fubara lost his Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area to the APC.
The official results were declared on Sunday at the RSIEC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
