The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has disowned recent statements and activities by individuals it described as “false, mischievous, and unauthorized,” distancing itself from attempts to discredit the official inauguration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai into the party.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the State Secretary, Victor Oluwatuyi, the party dismissed both a controversial publication allegedly released by its Publicity Secretary and a press conference held by a faction led by Hon. Adamu Dattijo.
The publication had described El-Rufai’s entry into the ADC as “fraudulent,” while the Dattijo-led group, styling themselves as “concerned stakeholders,” accused El-Rufai and other leaders of plotting to hijack the party.
Oluwatuyi insisted both incidents were unauthorized and malicious, stressing that neither the State Working Committee (SWC) nor the State Executive Committee (SEC) sanctioned them. He revealed that he personally attended El-Rufai’s inauguration alongside the State Organizing Secretary, while the State Chairman also indicated his support.
“It is therefore false, misleading, and malicious to describe the event as fraudulent,” the statement said.
The ADC leadership further accused the faction of spreading “reckless allegations” against respected party figures, warning that those responsible would face disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution.
“The ADC Kaduna State Chapter will not tolerate impersonation, indiscipline, or any attempt to undermine the unity of our party. Those involved in issuing unauthorized statements and organizing fake press conferences risk sanctions,” Oluwatuyi warned.
He urged members, coalition partners, and the public to disregard the controversial statements, emphasizing that the Kaduna chapter remained united and focused on strengthening grassroots structures across all 23 local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statement also called on the party’s national leadership to take note of the developments and support efforts to protect the party’s integrity.
“The ADC belongs to all its members, not to a few individuals with selfish agendas. We remain united and committed to peace, unity, and the success of our party as we march toward 2027,” it added.
The chapter warned that anyone found impersonating its officials would face both internal sanctions and possible prosecution by law enforcement agencies.
