A Finnish district court has sentenced pro-Biafran agitator, Simon Ekpa, to six years in prison after finding him guilty of terrorism-related offences.

Ekpa, who styles himself as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government-in-Exile, was arrested in November 2024 alongside four others by Finnish authorities. He faced charges of incitement to violence, financing terrorism, and using social media platforms to promote violent activities in Nigeria’s South-East region.

The Päijät-Häme District Court ruled that his actions amounted to public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent.
