Motorists have been advised to exercise caution when traveling through Westbury and surrounding areas as community protests continue in Coronationville, Johannesburg.

The demonstrations, sparked by prolonged water outages, have led to road blockades on Perth Road, Harmony Street, and Fuel Road near Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, confirmed that traffic officers have been deployed to monitor the situation and assist with traffic diversions.

“The situation remains calm despite the road closures. Officers are on the ground diverting vehicles and will continue to monitor the area for any further disruptions,” Fihla said.

Residents say they are demanding urgent intervention from authorities to restore water supply.
