Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adeleye, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, as Executive Director of the South West Development Commission (SWDC).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Adeleye described Tejuoso’s appointment as a strong demonstration of the administration’s commitment to women’s contributions in governance and policymaking.
She highlighted Tejuoso’s track record, noting her outstanding leadership, legislative achievements, and commitment to public service, particularly her sponsorship of the landmark Domestic Violence Bill, which has influenced laws across the country.
“President Tinubu’s decision reflects his intention to entrust critical roles to capable women with proven competence and integrity,” Adeleye said.
She added that Tejuoso’s decades-long experience as a lawyer, legislator, gender advocate, and community leader makes her the right fit to drive the SWDC’s mandate of regional development and improved living standards.
Adeleye expressed confidence that Tejuoso will work collaboratively to advance the Commission’s goals and contribute meaningfully to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
It will be recalled that on June 26, 2025, the Senate confirmed nominees for key leadership positions in the South West, South-South, and North Central Development Commissions, with Tejuoso appointed as Executive Director, Corporate Services, for the SWDC.
