Otti Rules Out 2027 Alliance, Says Labour Party Will Run Independently

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has declared that the Labour Party has no plans to merge or enter into any political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the party intends to stand on its own strength.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement meeting, Otti said the party’s current focus is on strengthening its internal structures and delivering results through good governance where it holds office. He noted that performance and credibility, not political alliances, would determine the party’s future success at the polls.

The governor explained that while political partnerships are common in Nigeria, the Labour Party believes it can build a strong national platform without sacrificing its identity or agenda. According to him, discussions about coalitions often distract from the real work of policy delivery and grassroots mobilization.

Otti urged party members and supporters to concentrate on expanding membership, improving organization at the ward and state levels, and presenting clear alternatives to voters, adding that consistency and discipline would be key to the party’s 2027 strategy.
