The Benue State House of Assembly has carried out a major leadership shake-up, dissolving its former principal officers and appointing new lawmakers to key positions. The announcement was made on Thursday, September 11, 2025, through a statement by Zape Michael Upaa, Press Secretary to the Speaker.
According to the statement, Thomas Dugeri has been named the new Majority Leader, with Abraham Jabi stepping in as Deputy Majority Leader. Cyril Ikong will now serve as Majority Chief Whip, while Simon Gabo takes up the role of Deputy Majority Whip.
On the minority bench, Abu Umoro has been appointed Minority Leader, with Cephase Dyako as his deputy. Samuel Jiji will function as Minority Whip, and Moses Egbodo has been assigned the position of Deputy Minority Whip.
The Assembly leadership noted that additional details regarding the reorganisation would be communicated in due course, signaling further adjustments within the legislative body.
