The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated Local Council Executive Committee members in 21 out of the 27 local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the ceremony at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the State Chairman, Professor James Okoroma, described the exercise as a fresh step in strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and preparing for future political contests.

Okoroma explained that six LGAs were excluded from the inauguration due to unresolved issues, stressing that the decision was in line with the party’s commitment to transparency.

He further noted that in constituting the LGA executives, the party carefully considered the interests of all major political blocs within its coalition to ensure inclusiveness. Citing Article 13 of the party’s constitution, he highlighted that each LGA structure consists of Working and Executive Committees with 53 positions.

Advising members who were not selected, Okoroma urged patience, assuring that the party has enough positions to accommodate everyone. He emphasized that ADC’s mission in Imo is to “deliver the state from failed leadership.”

To aggrieved members, he encouraged the use of internal dispute resolution mechanisms, reminding them that the Supreme Court has upheld the supremacy of party constitutions.

The event was attended by members of the State Executive Working Committee and other stakeholders of the party.
