Aba, Abia State – In a significant endorsement of the state’s infrastructure drive, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Abia State on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, to commission a suite of newly completed strategic roads in the commercial hub of Aba.

The visit, at the invitation of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration, underscores the growing partnership between the state and federal government and highlights the transformative infrastructure projects reshaping Aba.

According to a press release from the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the event marks “a historic moment for our dear state.” It reflects, the statement noted, “both the recognition of the transformational strides being undertaken by Governor Otti’s administration and the renewed partnership between the Federal Government and Abia State in driving sustainable infrastructure development.”

Roads Scheduled for Commissioning

The President will formally inaugurate the following completed road projects, all located in Aba:

1. Port Harcourt Road (A dual carriageway of 3 lanes each with comprehensive drainage)

2. Ohanku Road

3. Ndoki Road

4. Ajiwe Street

5. Umuatako Road

6. Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs, Abayi

7. Gabriel Nwosu Street

A key feature of these projects is the installation of solar-powered flood lights, which the state government has established as a new standard for its road infrastructure. This initiative aligns with Governor Otti’s vision for sustainable development, enhanced public safety, and urban modernization.

Civic Reception at Township Stadium

The day’s events will include a Civic Reception in honour of President Tinubu at the Aba Township Stadium, commencing at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

The Abia State Government has extended a warm welcome to the President and expressed profound appreciation for his visit. The government is calling on all citizens, including the Aba business community, town unions, youth, and women’s groups, to come out en masse to accord the President a rousing and befitting reception.
