The Federal Government has called off the 65th Independence Anniversary parade earlier scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday, September 29, by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

According to the release, the decision does not diminish the significance of the milestone, as other activities lined up for the anniversary will still take place.

“The cancellation in no way reduces the importance of this anniversary. The government remains committed to marking Nigeria’s 65 years of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” the statement read.

The Federal Government also expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the cancellation and extended appreciation to Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests for their understanding. It further urged citizens to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda geared toward building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
