The member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Ogah, has congratulated his elder brother, Dr. Okechukwu Ogah, on his historic appointment as Chair of the Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) Heart Failure Task Force.
Dr. Ogah, a renowned cardiologist with the Department of Medicine, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, was recently elected to the continental role. His appointment is expected to strengthen collaboration among African heart care experts and advance PASCAR’s mission of improving cardiovascular health through research, education, advocacy, and clinical excellence.
In his congratulatory message, Hon. Amobi Ogah described his brother as “a beacon of excellence and a worthy ambassador of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi, Abia State, and Nigeria at large.” He noted that the achievement was the product of years of hard work, dedication, and professional brilliance.
“Dr. Okechukwu Ogah has not only made our family proud but has also placed Nigeria on the global map of cardiovascular medicine. His leadership at the Pan-African level is an inspiration to the younger generation and a call for more investment in health research and care across our continent,” Hon. Amobi stated.
He further urged Dr. Ogah to continue leading innovations that will help address Africa’s rising burden of heart-related diseases, assuring him of full support from home.
Academic and professional bodies, including the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, UCH, the College of Medicine, and the University of Ibadan, have also lauded the appointment, describing Dr. Ogah as a visionary whose work will shape the future of cardiology in Africa.
