As the world marks World Teachers’ Day 2025, former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has joined millions across the globe to celebrate teachers, particularly those in Abia State, Nigeria, and around the world for their tireless commitment to building minds and shaping the future.
In a goodwill message released to mark the occasion, Dr. Ogah paid glowing tribute to teachers for their sacrifices, resilience, and dedication to duty despite economic and infrastructural challenges. He described teachers as the true nation builders and silent pillars of development whose labor continues to produce great leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
“Teachers are the heart of every thriving society. They nurture dreams, ignite passion, and shape destinies. On this special day, I celebrate every teacher in Abia, across Nigeria, and the entire world for their noble service to humanity,” Dr. Ogah said.
He commended Abia teachers for their steadfastness in upholding the state’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence, urging them to remain dedicated in their calling to inspire and mentor the next generation and applauded Abia Government for the recruitment of over 5,000 teachers to its workforce.
According to him, “investing in teachers is investing directly in the future of the nation.”
“No nation can grow beyond the quality of its teachers. It is therefore imperative that teachers are well supported, respected, and motivated to continue their invaluable work,” he added.
He concluded by extending his heartfelt appreciation to all educators worldwide, describing them as the light of humanity who deserve the highest honor and recognition for their contributions to global development.
Theme for 2025: “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want.”
Dr. Ogah reaffirmed that achieving the education Nigeria and the world desire begins with valuing, training, and empowering teachers to meet the evolving demands of modern society.
