A Zamfara-based businessman, Alhaji Isha’u Mai Yari, has accused the Zamfara State Urban and Rural Planning Board (ZURPB) of illegally demolishing his business complex in Gusau without a valid court order.

Mai Yari said his property, a multi-million naira business mall located in the state capital, was bulldozed by government officials under what he described as “an unjustified and unlawful exercise of power.”

He lamented that the demolition, which took place without prior notice or judicial authorization, had caused him significant financial loss. According to him, all efforts to seek clarification from the state authorities were ignored.

The businessman called on the state government to take responsibility for the demolition and compensate him adequately. He also urged the federal authorities and human rights organisations to intervene in the matter to ensure justice is served.

As of press time, officials of the Zamfara State Urban and Rural Planning Board were yet to comment on the allegations.
