Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, says his administration is focused on building strong and lasting institutions that will outlive individuals, rather than relying on so-called “strong men.”

Speaking on Sunday, October 12, during the Christ Embassy Miracle Crusade held at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, Governor Otti emphasized that true progress lies in institutional strength.

> “We are building institutions that will outlast men. When you build men, once they are gone, you may return to square one. But here, we are building enduring institutions,” he said.

Governor Otti assured the congregation that while no government is perfect, his administration remains committed to transparency and accountability.

> “We are not perfect, and we can make mistakes. But we are not arrogant. If we make a mistake and realize it, we will correct it and apologise. What we will never do is deliberately act wrongly,” he stated.

Citing the recent recruitment of teachers and ongoing hiring of 771 health workers, Otti said the process has been strictly merit-based and transparent.

> “We have hired many teachers — none of them needed to know anyone. Once you apply, pass the CBT test and interview, you’re employed. You pay nothing to anybody. That’s the kind of institution we’re building,” he explained.

The governor added that applications for health positions have come from within and outside Nigeria, including Zambia and South Africa, reflecting confidence in the fairness of the system.

While acknowledging that his administration may face criticism, Otti maintained that opposition is inevitable even for those divinely chosen.

> “Even Jesus Christ was attacked. But when God is with you, no man can prevail against you,” he said.

Governor Otti also urged citizens to support good governance through active political participation, stressing that voter registration is key to sustaining positive leadership.

> “Every society gets the kind of leadership it deserves. To protect good leadership, you must vote. The continuous voter registration has started. Please, if you have not registered, go and register,” he appealed.

He reminded the people that their votes brought about the current administration in 2023, urging them to continue participating in the democratic process.

> “The more the children of God vote, the less the wrong people will emerge as leaders,” he added.

Otti assured residents that no one can intimidate them, emphasizing that Abia State belongs to all. He dismissed political threats about 2027, saying only God determines the future.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Church for its unwavering prayers and support before and after his election, acknowledging their role in the transformation of Abia State.

Introducing Governor Otti at the event, Pastor Felix Ebuade, Zonal Pastor of Christ Embassy, Aba Zone, described him as an answer to years of prayers for true development in the state.

> “For years, I prayed for God to bring genuine progress to Abia. Today, I can boldly say God answered by giving us Governor Alex Otti,” Pastor Ebuade said.

Other senior clergymen, including Archbishop (Dr.) Goddy Okafor of the Glorious Life Gospel Centre (GLGC), offered prayers for the governor, his administration, and the state’s continued progress.
