The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Control, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, has mourned the passing of the renowned international evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
In a condolence statement released on Monday, Hon. Ogah described the late cleric as a spiritual general, a man of deep humility, and a true servant of God whose ministry touched and transformed millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond.
โRev. Uma Ukpai was more than a preacher; he was a father of faith, a beacon of hope, and a global ambassador for Christ. His teachings and humanitarian works shaped countless destinies and advanced the gospel worldwide. His departure leaves a great void in the body of Christ,โ Ogah said.
He noted that though the revered evangelist hailed from Asaga Ohafia in Abia State, his influence reached far beyond borders through decades of passionate evangelism and selfless service to humanity, with his ministry based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Hon. Ogah extended his condolences to the Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Christian community, urging them to take comfort in the fact that the late evangelist lived a fulfilled life devoted to Godโs work and the upliftment of mankind.
โHis legacy of faith, revival, and compassion will remain evergreen. I pray that God strengthens his family and followers to bear this great loss,โ Ogah added.
He further remarked that Rev. Dr. Ukpaiโs remarkable life and ministry stand as an enduring inspiration to believers and a shining example of unwavering dedication to God and humanity.
