Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has inaugurated the Board of the Abia State Technological Skills Acquisition Centre, appointing renowned technologist, Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe, as Chairman.

Other members of the board include Engr. Cletus Ogbonnaya Ekpo (Vice Chairman), Engr. Peter Ukonu (Director General), Mr. Gerald Ilukwe, Mr. Chinenye Mba Uzoukwu, Mr. Fidelis Nweze, Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, Mr. Chukwudi Ogbonna, and Dr. Mrs. Rita Ndidi Amuchienwa.

The inauguration, which took place on Monday at the Executive Council Chamber, followed the State Executive Council meeting. Governor Otti commended the appointees for accepting to serve, describing them as some of the most accomplished minds in the technology and innovation ecosystem.

“These are the best of the best in the technology space,” the Governor said. “Our Chairman, Prof. Ekekwe, has contributed immensely to global knowledge and continues to make us proud. The Director General, an inventor, left his comfort zone in the UK to join us in this mission. Others here have also distinguished themselves in their respective fields.”

Governor Otti emphasized that the board’s work is a service to the State and the Igbo nation at large, noting that the administration prioritizes competence over geography.

“This is a service to fatherland and Alaigbo. We want to create an environment where every talented person, irrespective of origin, can contribute to the growth of our people,” he said.

The Governor expressed confidence that the board would play a key role in driving Abia’s ongoing technological and economic transformation.

In his remarks, Prof. Ekekwe thanked the Governor for his visionary leadership, noting that technology is essential to unlocking economic prosperity.

“We have been called to build Abia’s technological capacity. This is about creating abundance and opportunity for our people through innovation. From Isuikwuato to every corner of the State, our goal is to make technology a tool for empowerment,” he stated.

Also speaking, Dr. (Mrs.) Rita Amuchienwa hailed the initiative and pledged the board’s commitment to delivering on its mandate.

“This is a remarkable initiative, Your Excellency. I’m proud to be part of this team that will empower Abia youth and make them more productive. We will give our best to achieve this vision,” she assured.

The Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and members of the State Executive Council attended the inauguration.
