Nottingham Forest’s poor run of form in the Premier League continued on Saturday as they suffered a 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea, stretching manager Ange Postecoglou’s winless streak to eight matches.
Taiwo Awoniyi made his first start of the season, and Forest began the game positively, creating early chances. Elliot Anderson came close after capitalizing on a Chelsea defensive error but was quickly closed down, while Morgan Gibbs-White volleyed wide from close range. Andrey Santos also narrowly missed the target after being set up by João Pedro.
Chelsea, missing key players such as Cole Palmer and Moisés Caicedo, struggled to find rhythm in the first half but improved significantly after the break. Pedro Neto burst down the left flank to set up Josh Acheampong for the opener, and moments later, Neto doubled the lead with a superb free-kick. Forest’s defensive woes deepened as Reece James scored a third from a corner after Igor Jesus’ earlier effort hit both the bar and post. Malo Gusto’s late red card slightly marred an otherwise convincing win for the Blues.
The loss leaves Forest in mounting trouble, with owner Evangelos Marinakis leaving the stadium before full-time amid growing uncertainty over Postecoglou’s future. Chelsea’s victory marked their fourth win in five visits to the City Ground, extending their dominance over Nottingham Forest.
