Reports from Sahara Reporters indicate that the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has detained 16 senior Nigerian military officers over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to sources cited in the report, the officers were apprehended following intelligence suggesting their involvement in discussions aimed at destabilizing the government.
The detained officers are said to include personnel from different branches of the Armed Forces, with investigations currently ongoing to uncover the extent of their alleged involvement.
Neither the Defence Headquarters nor the presidency has officially commented on the reported arrests as of the time of filing this report.
