The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has announced the postponement of its 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) to November 12–13, 2025. The shift, according to the Guild, follows President Bola Tinubu’s confirmation to declare the event open as the Special Guest of Honour in Abuja.
In a statement jointly signed by the Guild’s President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the NGE explained that the change of date was due to circumstances beyond its control. It assured that the conference, to be held in Abuja, would still bring together over 500 editors and media executives to deliberate on the role of journalism in fostering national development and unity.
The Guild reaffirmed that the 2025 conference will maintain its theme, “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,” with the sub-theme, “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.” The event will feature a keynote address and several paper presentations by distinguished scholars and professionals, including Prof. Awa Kalu, SAN; Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim; Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi; and Gen. Lucky Irabor (retd.).
The NGE apologised to its members, invited guests, and the general public for any inconvenience caused by the date adjustment. It reiterated that ANEC 2025 would remain a credible platform for editors to engage government officials, political leaders, and stakeholders on critical national issues aimed at promoting sustainable development and national cohesion.
