Bayern Munich have announced a two-year extension to head coach Vincent Kompany’s contract, keeping him at the club until 2029.
Kompany, who joined the Bundesliga champions in the summer of 2024, was not the club’s first choice at the time of his appointment. However, he quickly silenced critics by reclaiming the league title from Bayer Leverkusen in his debut season.
The 39-year-old Belgian has continued his impressive run this term, guiding Bayern to 11 straight victories across all competitions. The team currently tops both the Bundesliga and the Champions League tables.
“It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer and that I know the club well,” said Kompany, a former Manchester City captain. “It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started a wonderful journey, let’s keep working hard and celebrate even more success.”
