Nigerian-born heavyweight boxer Kingsley Ibeh has declared his readiness to face Anthony Joshua, vowing to “definitely” knock him out if the proposed fight holds in Nigeria.

According to Sky Sports, speculation is growing that Joshua could stage his long-awaited comeback fight in Africa, with Nigeria and Ghana being top options. Joshua, who has Nigerian roots, could find himself up against Ibeh, a fellow countryman now based in Arizona, USA.

Ibeh boasts a 16-2-1 record with 14 knockouts and has enjoyed an impressive streak of 11 consecutive victories since losing to Jared Anderson in 2021. His most recent triumph was a third-round knockout of former world title challenger Gerald Washington.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ibeh said:

> “We need the right platform and the right opponent to make a statement, and there’s no better one than AJ. That would be a dream come true, amazing, really. I would definitely stop him. It’s just a matter of how quickly.”

Although eager for a Nigerian showdown, Ibeh said he would fight Joshua “anywhere,” including London’s O2 Arena.

The cousin of former heavyweight contender Ike Ibeabuchi, Ibeh’s path to boxing was unconventional, he discovered the sport while selling life insurance to a gym coach who challenged him to spar. “I never back down from a fight,” Ibeh recalled. “I took my shirt off, put on headgear, got in the ring, and knocked the guy out.”

Despite describing Joshua as “his idol,” Ibeh insists he would bring “mean intentions” into the ring.

> “I’m ready to entertain in his backyard. I like AJ, but I’d love to give him the challenge he’s looking for.”

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn recently revealed that the former world champion may return to the ring before the end of the year or early in 2026, possibly in February.

> “If he fights this year, it’ll just be a tune-up bout,” Hearn said. “We’re looking at one or two fights before a possible clash with Tyson Fury.”

Whether the fight happens in Lagos or London, Ibeh’s message is clear, he’s ready to test himself against Anthony Joshua on any stage.
