The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, former Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, back into its fold, describing his return as a significant boost to the party’s unity, strength, and prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the Acting State Publicity Secretary, Prince Ifeanyi Igwe, the party’s leadership expressed delight over Kalu’s return, describing him as a “political titan” and one of the founding figures of the APC in Abia since 2014.

“Chief Kalu remains a respected political leader and a seasoned public servant whose wealth of experience will further advance the progress and development of Abia State,” the statement read.

During the welcome ceremony held at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia, Abia APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, commended Kalu for rejoining the party, noting that his homecoming marked a new era of cohesion and purposeful leadership.

“We are delighted to welcome Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu back home. His return symbolizes renewed strength, unity, and determination within our great party,” Dr. Ononogbu said.

The event was well attended by top party figures, including the APC Bende Local Government Chairman, ward leaders, and members of the State Working Committee, who all expressed enthusiasm over Kalu’s rejoining.

According to the statement, Kalu’s return aligns with the APC’s broader strategy to consolidate its grassroots presence and promote the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Abia State.

“Chief Kalu’s homecoming reflects our commitment to building a united and formidable political family. Together, we are set to reposition Abia APC to take the reins of governance in the state,” the statement added.

Observers say Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu’s re-entry into the party is expected to trigger wider political realignments and further strengthen the APC’s internal structure as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
