Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has raised alarm over the club’s recent slump in form, warning that the Reds may be heading toward a full-blown crisis if performances don’t improve soon.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday, the former defender described Liverpool’s current situation as “crisis time,” comparing it unfavourably to teams with far fewer resources. “Losing four games in a row for Brentford would be a disaster. To see the champions do it after such heavy summer spending means we’re in a crisis time for Liverpool right now,” he said.
Carragher expressed concerns about the team’s defensive weakness, pointing to a lack of height and physicality in key areas. “Liverpool have to look at the physicality and height within their team because, right now, I don’t think they have enough,” he stressed.
Similarly, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville likened Arne Slot’s Liverpool to the old United sides that were brilliant in attack but chaotic defensively. He urged Slot to simplify his approach and rebuild from a solid foundation. “Maybe it’s time for Arne Slot to simplify things,” Neville said, warning that persisting with exposed full-backs and an open midfield will only produce the same disappointing results.
