A former United States ambassador has urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to take urgent action against the rising violence across Nigeria, warning that failure to do so could trigger widespread unrest and threaten national unity.

The envoy highlighted that repeated attacks on communities and civilians, including killings linked to extremist groups and communal conflicts, are pushing the country toward a dangerous tipping point. He emphasized that decisive government intervention is critical to prevent further bloodshed.

He also noted that the ongoing insecurity is weakening public trust in authorities and fueling tension among different regions and ethnic groups. Without effective measures to curb the violence, he cautioned, Nigeria could experience severe internal instability.

The former diplomat called on the federal government to strengthen security operations, protect vulnerable populations, and address the root causes of violence, stressing that time is running out to prevent a deeper crisis.

The warning serves as a stark reminder to the administration that national peace and stability depend on immediate and sustained action to end the ongoing killings.
