Senator Ned Nwoko has emphasized that peace and stability will return to the South-East region if the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is released. He stated that Kanu’s prolonged incarceration has continued to fuel tension and unrest across the region.

The lawmaker noted that many residents of the South-East have suffered greatly from the insecurity and economic disruption linked to the agitation for Kanu’s release. According to him, addressing the root cause of the agitation through dialogue and reconciliation is more effective than prolonged confrontation.

Nwoko described Kanu’s continued detention as unjust, stressing that it has created deep resentment among many people in the region. He called on the Federal Government to demonstrate fairness and compassion by considering his release in the interest of national unity.

He further expressed optimism that once Kanu regains his freedom, the atmosphere of fear and instability in the South-East will subside, paving the way for meaningful development and renewed trust between the people and the government.
